PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOPS AND TOURS
Workshops are learning intensive field courses with a small number of participants of 4-5 max. The goal is to cover the essential great technical and creative topics.
Tours emphasize on visiting locations, and less on instruction. The schedule however reflects more the idea of discovering amazing scenery and is less repetitive than a workshop. The number of participants is 4-5 max.
Private tours/ workshops are for a single participant. However it is possible to bring along a friend to share the experience and costs. Private 1 on 1 courses are tailored made to meet your specific needs. If you are looking for a master class or simply a photographic holiday this is an excellent option for you.
My teaching style is relaxed and I try to keep learning a fun experience. There is no curriculum or formal daily schedule (except for early rising to catch the morning light) however we will cover a great deal of photography/landscape related issues. Some of the main topics covered are:
Equipment
- We will discuss everything from camera functions and lenses to cleaning and clothing.
Creative composition
- My goal as your instructor is to help you find your images in the scenery. I don't believe in compositional rules and thus I don't teach them. What I firmly believe is that everyone who can see and understand the simple principles of function of his/her camera can use it to communicate his vision. I will try to help you unlock the pictures you have already within.
Understanding light
- A photographer is a "writer of light" as the Greek word - φωτογραφία - indicates. We will breathe, eat, sleep, dream and analyze it for the duration of our time together.
Exposure fundementals
- Although understanding and commanding exposure is rather simple, failure to apply the principles necessary will leave you without creative control. It is because of this that I give strong emphasis on the fundamentals of exposure.
Image review and critique
- Every evening we will review the images of the day and discuss them. The critique sessions are key to learning, therefore we will review both your best shots as well as your raw files to analyze in depth your approach and development of a subject.
Post processing
- Raw image process
- Color and tonal corrections in Photoshop
- Creative adjustments in Photoshop
Location scouting
- We will use the daylight hours when the light is not as interesting to scout for location and discuss what light we might anticipate later on. Successful landscape photographs are often synonym with good understanding of location and scouting. It’s important to know which location gets what light and when. You will learn how to make use of all the day time even when you do not photograph.
